Russian folk metal band formed in 2008 by several experienced musicians, renowned on Moscow underground scene. It is headed by the legendary BUTTERFLY TEMPLE frontman Sergei ABREY Abramov. It’s no wonder that OMELA immediately attracted the highest attention of Russial metalheads and the media. The band became the winner of an important Russian rock festival for young bands “Na Vzlet!”. In September 2009 OMELA's internet single, “Sled Moi”, got the 4th place at the prestigious chart of Mastersland, the main Russian metal music website and community. That same year the debut Viscum Album saw the light of day. OMELA presents a harmonious mixture of mid-tempo atmospheric progressive rock with the elements of Slavonic folk music and doom metal components.
The story began when the vocalist of a renowned Russian folk metal band BUTTERFLY TEMPLE Abrey came up with an idea to establish a new act with several experienced musicians. Besides Abrey himself, the following instrumentalists entered the band: Sergei AVEN Avanesov (Buttefly Temple, keyboards), Alexander PLUG Makartsev (Calvados, Ze next, ZazhiGalka, Lance a lot, Necrost; guitars) and Nail GRINDBOX Magzhanov (Necrost, Seducers Embrace; drums). They prepared material for the debut Viscum Album. In the autumn of 2008 bass-guitarist Ilya Bodrov and viola-player Fedor Vetrov also joined OMELA. The band attracts the fans by its emotional and full of poetic images live shows, hypnotic melodies, powerful and magnificent vocals and very professionally played instrumental parts.
